When an app hits the Japanese iPhone app store with an average 4-5 star rating, and it has nothing to do with ogling women, you know you have a hit. Such is the case with Live Link 3G. Developed by Yudo Inc., the application allows two iPhone users to engage in video calls, with remarkably smooth video and solid audio. Best of all, no jailbreaking of your iPhone is necessary.
Of course, since the iPhone doesn't have a front facing camera, most conversations will feature you and your receiver showing the other's live location and activity. Nevertheless, the video phone function works as advertised. The application is available for free download until March 22nd, after which the price will jump to 1,000 yen ($11). You can see video of how the Live Link 3G app works here.
