*Free as in fring itself is a free app and you don't incur extra fees for using video calling. All the other happy iPhone-related fees apply.
So, here's a neat trick: with fring, you can already manage multiple instant messaging accounts — including Skype — and now, thanks to an update, you can even do video calling on the iPhone. "But DVICE," you cry, "the camera is on the back of the iPhone!" Indeed, that's why it's, sadly, only one way.
In the end, it's a cool gimmick but maybe a little too voyeuristic for our tastes. Two-way video calling is definitely coming, though. TUAW has a hands on with the app, or hit the jump for a short commercial showing off the technology.

The video doesn't tell us ANYTHING about how it works.
All we see is you hold it up over 1 person's face... and someone elses face instantly appears.

this is definitely cool for iphone users like us and best of all it's free.
but again, it's actually not totally free because you will have to factor in all the other cost that your mobile operator will be charging you.
nevertheless, fring is a good application but the down side is as kevin has mentioned, it's only one way and not two!
hopefully apple would come up with a iphone with its camera on the front instead of on the back.
afterall this is really becoming a trend and common among the 3G and 3.5G phones out there from big brands like nokia, samsung and etc.
