Renault Zoe, the electric car that's good for your skin

Renault Zoe, the electric car that\'s good for your skin

Renault sure does come up with some out-there concepts. Remember the Twizy Z.E.? It had hexagonal wheels. Now Renault is showing off the Zoe Z.E., which has an interior that mirrors a "spa-like experience."

The engineering focus is on the car's climate control system, which has an electric diffuser built right in, capable of spreading specialty oils around the cabin. If you're into aroma therapy, that should be a nice touch, though you may want to refrain from anything too soothing lest you fall asleep at the wheel.

Renault's Zoe may not be just a concept, either, as the company is hinting that the electric car could see production as early as 2012.

Oh, yes. In the middle of a failing economy and environmental crisis everyone is going to want a car that SMELLS GOOD. Massage while you drive to work. Aaaaaaaaaaaah...

Actually, this is a good sign. Somebody has ended the preachy-feel-good-do-good phase and begun the marketability phase. If we had essentially marketable electric vehicles, everybody would prefer them to combustion for the sake of practicality and not just as a status symbol to show how green they are, which they could as well do by promoting iron pyrite as the socially responsible alternative to gold.

Thank Ceiling Cat someone has come up with this idea, srsly! The smell of car interiors usually makes me really sick and the aromatherapy part would be a great solution. Now, if only I won in the lottery, to be able to buy this car.:-<

I think there are so many other things to focus with vehicles than gimmicky prototypes that do things like this! Come car companies, get real!

If a company wants an electric car that will be successful, how about one that can cover 300 miles on a single charge, can recharge in under 10 minutes, isn't a crash hazard constructed of aluminum foil, can double as an electric generator in the case of power outages, and costs under $20K.
Until that happens, these cars will only be status symbols.

I agree! These toys are nothing but status symbols for the foolish rich, like 2400 baud modems or video cards with a whole megabyte of memory onboard. What good could possibly come of rich people throwing their money away on such things?

A car like this would definitely be on top of my purchasing list. Personally, I'm tired of A4 cars like the Golf, and I'd get all the performance I need from an electric. As for distance between charges 100 km is more than enough.

I like the design of the car, and it's something I'd look into buying.

However I don't like the spa thing, aprticularly the 'oils' bit.
