New Microsoft Project Natal details leak, coming next year for cheap

Microsoft's upcoming Project Natal add-on for the Xbox 360 is one of the most exciting and interesting new gaming peripherals to be announced in some time. So of course, news that it might just be cheaper than previously thought gets us excited.

According to MCV, a UK gaming magazine, Natal should launch in about a year, in November of 2010. And it might just cost somewhere between $50 and $80, coming bundled with 14 games. Sure, those games will be Wii Sports style minigames, but man, that's a great price for something that'll allow you to interact with your games in a whole new way.

I am against motion controls as a general rule... but if that price point sticks, I will pick it up.

I am still wondering how you would play a FSP like halo with this thing.

Shouldn't the light on the front of that thing be red?

Hey! I'm a student at University of North Texas. We just had a representative from Microsoft's public relations department come by today with the natal unit. I didn't get to see it personally but my friend(whose not a DVICE reader) was telling me all about it. It scanned the persons body and it took a long time to set up a user profile. it got your height and other general info(not weight surprisingly) . The guy said that bill gates had the technology for several years and had it in his home so when he went from room to room the music would change with him/mood. Anyways its real and its close.

There's gotta be a catch here. Somethin like this can't be that cheap and it's gotta be glitchy as all hell if it is. Just look at the wii! It revolutionized gaming when it began the motion control age, but now this controllerless-gaming comes out and they expect me to believe it's gonna be $50-$80 and not have all the problems microsoft puts in so they can get more money with updates? Sure the wii was only $250, which is relatively cheap for a game console, but Gates is more money-hungry than most of nintendo. This is going to revolutionize gaming, and he's going to screw it up by force-feeding us updates at the cost of our bank accounts. Up yours, microsoft. But I'm still gonna buy me one. x3
