You'll encounter weak cell signals or no bars (especially if you're an iPhone user in midtown Manhattan) everywhere you go, which is where this CellLynx 5BARz booster ($300) comes in. About the size of a paperback book, you just plug the box into an AC outlet or cigarette lighter and it somehow corrals and amplifies weak signals to create drop-free conversations and speedy Web surfing where you had neither before, on the road or at home.
No, if won't create signal where there isn't any, but it's fairly portable. It comes with a CLA car mount for use in a car — but just remember its dangerous, if not illegal, to use a cellphone while driving. Your cellphone has to be within a couple of feet of the cradle, which must be a transmitter or some sort, but the main receiver/amplifier box doesn't necessarily have to be near a window such as similar (and less portable) cell boosters. It also works with either GSM or CDMA signals. The company guarantees five bars anywhere within your carrier's coverage area. Let us know how that goes.

why is it so dangerous or even illeagle to use a cell phone while driving when police officers use freakin LAPTOPS while they're driving around?

This seems to be fairly useless. I mean yeah it's great if you are traveling, but you have to stop your car to use it legally, and i mean most of the time i notice i have crap signal is when i am walking around, key word: walking. I suppose it's nice that they made this, and may hint at something more useful on its way eventually, but as of now this is crap. Also just a note on the police and thier laptops, most of the programs they use are automated and require almost no attention, they also make use of text-to-speach so they don't have to read the screen. Not the safest thing, but with the automation it's about the same as a using a cell phone... guess it still isn't very fair, but they do have special training to use it while driving anyway.

With 5BARz the holder and a headset is a perfect match. Speakerphone will also help but not as clear. Note, that by NOT dropping calls there is less redialing while driving for more safety. Battery accessory targeted for Q1 2010 so you can walk or run.

Why does that iPhone in the picture have no signal? And the logo looks super cheap, if this was something I was thinking about buying I wouldn't just for that reason.

Good eyes and great catch! The photographer's studio is in a dread zone and the 5BARz unit was not turned on for the shoot (it was mounted on a table in the middle of a large studio -- not close to an outlet.) That's why we Guarantee 5BARz of coverage or your money back!!

I used to sell mobile devices for 3 different carries via Wal-Mart and I seem to recall that this is exactly like those car antennas you used to see people with. You know, most motorola phones still have an opening for the old-style antenna which "boosts" signal.
So, yeah... this is just a cellular repeater with a signal amplifier... Good idea as long as it all works as described. When are we gonna make ones that work for any or all phones? I'm tired of having 3 bars at home and 5 bars outside my home.

5 Barz cell signal booster looks pretty good as it cover the risk of signal problem in traffic, Buildings, indoor areas and hill areas as well. It gives the 5 barz signal which is a maximum range.
