The annual Tokyo Motor Show in Japan is once again playing host to a number of cool concept vehicles, one of the most interesting being the new EC-f scooter from Yamaha. The electric-powered vehicle is designed to serve as a commuter bike for city dwellers hoping to make their drive to work a bit greener (ecologically and literally).
Constructed using lightweight aluminum, the scooter runs on a lithium-ion battery and can easily be plugged into a normal electrical socket for recharging. No word on a release date for this concept, but the design alone is enough to generate excitement for its upcoming release.

This looks like a future design icon, I could look at it all day. Shame to take it out on the road and get it dirty.

Looks like an X-Box 360, actually. Green, white, grey and black.

BAH! when are we getting an electric bike that doesn't look like a kids toy! ICK!

Looks perfect for amputees who don't have those pesky legs to deal with.

Let's hope this scooter doesn't have a Red Ring of Death and just looks like an Xbox360 on wheels.

This seems like one step closer to my dream of owning a Light Cycle from Tron.

Gorgeous AND ecofriendly...I love it!

This is as far from gorgeous as you can view without turning into stone.

How do i turn this thing or it is going only straight ahead ?
By Tabbicatt at 5:01 AM ON 10/29/09
When are they gonna put an alternater on one of those things, so you won't have to plug it in as often?
By tailwhip at 7:17 AM ON 10/29/09
"How do i turn this thing or it is going only straight ahead ?" You just lean it and it will turn. Maybe Bill Gates had something to do with this. The coloring is a giveaway.

So....are turn signals optional now? Also, where do the feet rest?
Maybe this is a "some assembly required" scooter.

Yeah, like dbl D said, easy to make a clean looking design if you ignore things like a place for the rider's feet. Kind of retarded from a company that makes scooters and motorcycles.
By DoctorindyJ at 3:01 PM ON 10/29/09
I think I would reserve judgment until I saw someone actually riding it. Maybe there is a place to put feet that isn't obvious. I wouldn't ride one because I'm not a cycle or scooter person, but I think it looks cool. Then again I don't think I would drive a car like that either. But hey it's a concept right?

Take a look here to see better pics :-)

I think maybe your feet go on the metal bit going to the back wheel.
As for turning, most of the time you just turn by leaning

mybe some one can tell me if it will be used by people who ride mobilty schooters now but they will have to put some where for our feet or have the people who make it gone a bit barmy and how do we turn the thing as well as how fast does it go
