World's fastest amphibious vehicle goes 60mph on water

World\'s fastest amphibious vehicle goes 60mph on water

Get a Corvette engine, rig it up with a Dominator jet pump impeller drive, and then strap it into a floating car, and you get the WaterCar Python, the fastest and highest-performing amphibious vehicle in the world. If zipping over the water at a top speed of 60mph doesn't float your boat, it'll accelerate on land at a neck-snapping 0-to-60 speed of a mere 4.5 seconds.

Now if WaterCar could just streamline this body a bit, because now it looks like a cross between a pickup truck and a Ford Mustang. But we're digging that rear end, which looks just like a Corvette. Oh, and there's one more thing: You'd better be really into water sports, because this quick and versatile machine will set you back a cool $200,000. Video, after the jump:

OMG i love that thing. I sure could bypass a ton of traffic on the way to work everymorning. This would be excellent.

This would really be cool in Miami/Miami Beach where we have boat ramps all over the freaking place. Right now, rush hour is a ball buster. Having a boat like this would make going to work fun. The fact that it can keep pace with a go-fast boat is pretty cool too. This is the first amphibious car I've seen that can race into the water and get going with little delay in transition from land to water. I want it too, but the cost is way out of my league.

I'd rather have the Humdinga and the Quadski from Gibbs Technology.
