Are you really into Twitter, but not into having a cellphone capable enough to run a Twitter app for you? Would you rather carry two devices of limited functionality around with you than one that can do multiple tasks? Uh, OK. Well, the Twitter Peek is designed with you, and few other people, in mind.
The Twitter Peek is a wireless device that can handle Twitter and only Twitter. No phone calls, no email, no mobile internet, no nuthin', just Twitter. There's no word on pricing on this guy, but I'll stick to using Tweetie on my iPhone, thanks.

Seriously? "From the Makers of Wired Magazine"??? This has got to be a joke.

I would totally buy this thing. I don't have/need/want a smartphone nor do I want to pay all that money just to be able to get on the internet from anywhere. Nothing in my life is so important that needing internet access can't wait till I get to work or home... except Twitter, to which I am addicted. I'm joking. Even that can wait, although it would be terrific to be able to read and update from anywhere (actually, I just want to know the instant Felicia Day updates).
But the Amazon pre-order page has the device listed at $199 for lifetime (of the device) service. I'd pay $30, maybe $50, but $200? That's a dealbreaker!

I would want this also, but I'm looking instead at their other device: the PEEK PRONTO which does email and texting but it's mostly for email. But I would use it with Twitter also but that is Twitter via Email using Nutshellmail (for receiving my main Twitter timeline but it probably won't do lists at this time) and Ping.fm for sending my tweets via email. The PEEK PRONTO is available for a lesser price but you have the monthly subscription. Or you can get the $299 version and not pay the monthly for the "LIFETIME" of the device. When they say "LIFETIME" that's for the life of the device. So if you can get the device to last for several years, then you got a good buy. So don't break the Peek and don't lose the Peek.
For those others reading this, if you have an iPhone or a Blackberry already, please don't look down on this because these PEEK devices are not for you. These PEEK devices are for other people who want something that doesn't cost as much as what you have to pay every month for service on an iPhone or a Blackberry. This is for other people who are willing to have a second device to go along with the humdrum cellphone that they are happy with. And this is for people who are tired for paying too much every month that they pay on service for an iPhone or a Blackberry or some other smart phone or data phone service.

I wonder how many people would go for this over the original twitter.com though. I made a poll just now - it'd be interesting to see how the numbers play out @ http://www.dipoll.com/?p=614

@Lapconti they meant to say it is made by the "makers of the gear of the year" as defined by Wired magazine. Yes, the way that was print is very misleading. see http://www.twitterpeek.com/

Basic Service PlanService is just $7.95 / month for unlimited sending and receiving of tweets. No contracts, no hidden fee, no overage charges.
Lifetime Service PlanA one-time fee for a lifetime of service on your TwitterPeek device. The service travels with the device only. However, service will still transfer if that device is 1) software-upgraded or 2) exchanged under the 1-Year Warranty. So you can transfer devices among people, but you can’t transfer the lifetime service to a new device.
