The razor-thin Dell Adamo XPS in the flesh

The razor-thin Dell Adamo XPS in the flesh

Dell is counting on the look of the Adamo XPS to get people excited. (Maybe a little too much, as we still have no idea what kind of feature set/internals the 9.99 millimeter machine will come packed with.) Alex Gruzen, SVP of Dell's Consumer Product Group, flashed the Adamo XPS to a room full of reporters for a brief moment to show us all the "literally less than a centimeter-thick" laptop.

"When you see it, when you touch it, you'll lust after it," Gruzen said of the Adamo. Let's hope that lust is rewarded when you use it, too.

Check out a bonus shot and the press release from Dell after the jump.

From Dell:

ON 9/9/09, DELL OFFERS SNEAK PEAK OF 9.99-mm DESIGN CONCEPT

Round Rock, Texas, Sept. 9, 2009 - 9/9/09 comes only once and today Dell is offering a glimpse of its highly stylized, thin 9.99-mm Adamo By Dell concept that's as beautiful as today's date is unique.

The initial reveal, at www.dell.com/AdamoXPS, reflects the concept's unique, super-slim profile.

In March, Dell introduced the Adamo By Dell brand and Adamoâ„¢ laptop as the pinnacle of craftsmanship and design. Derived from the Latin word meaning "to fall in love with," the Adamo laptop is the world's thinnest and today's concept shows Dell's commitment to taking that to the next level.

I lust for it too and I don't even know what it can do. I wish this lust for all things small could translate to the women in my life re certain body appendages. Remember, ladies (if there are any out there reading Dvice), your new mantra is "small is big."

SWEET!! Looks breakable, though.

@Mr. Gumsandals
All ladies are beautiful in one way or another so stop being all hollywood about it.

It may be a good competitor to the Air if it isn't very breakable... The Air may be thin, but it can take a beating...

Dell may think everyone wants a slim profile computer but if it doesn't work like it's supposed to, then it's pointless. As much as people hate Macs for their overpriced hardware, the Air is a great slim profile, Macbook. If the specs are okay and the speed is fine, then there really shouldn't be a problem with Dell selling these laptops. http://ZiggyTek.com/

Thin computers are absolutely RETARDED, other than a cool factor and being able to brag.

I'd rather have a laptop that has some weight to it so I can put it on my lap(interesting thought). power>size.

Ya... That looks amazing... Now what you need to improve...

1) I could break that by looking at it

2) Dell sucks...Most things they make aren't that good
