9 Halloween costumes for tech-obsessed dogs

9 Halloween costumes for tech-obsessed dogs

Can dogs be tech-obsessed? That's debatable, but their owners sure can be. While this typically means a getting a few fun gadgets to play with most of the time, there's one day of the year when these faithful pooches become the embodiment of their owners' lifestyle. Hit Continue Reading for the Top 9 high-tech costumes for dogs you may see this Halloween.

1. iPhone Dog

Apple keeps coming up with new features for the iPhone, but they still haven't figured out a way to make the pictures literally pop off the screen. That's no problem for this doggie named Bon, even though the only picture it can show is of his own body.

2. Battle-Ready Dog

No loving pet owner would send their precious pooch into a real battle, but with a custom-fitted suit of armor from Paul Hersey, Fido will look like he's ready to take on army of fierce warriors. With prices running from around $250 to $400 a set, I reckon the real battle will be explaining this purchase to your friends.

3. Astro Dog

Dogs actually made it into space before humans, but casting history aside, I'm sure most of them would much rather be outside chasing squirrels. That's why this space doggie spotted by Dominique at last year's Tompkins Square Park Dog Halloween Parade, is busy promoting the North American Squirreler's Agency.

4. USS Enterprise dog

It doesn't take a genius to figure out what might have happened here. Trekkie dog owner makes cute cardboard Enterprise outfit for Fido. Owner finds Bud Light boosters are too heavy, so owner consumes the contents. Owner forgets he was supposed to paint spaceship silver.

5. MetroCard dog

MetroCards are the magnetic fare cards are what we New Yorkers use to get on the subways and buses, making this one a bit of an inside joke. Still, this outfit accurately recreates the metal slides that you need to swipe your card through, hoping that it will read properly. At least the doggie doesn't looks too bothered by it all.

6. Spaceship dog

This cutie was spotted at the 2006 Tompkins Square Park Halloween Dog Parade, and while his getup is a bit more generic than the USS Enterprise dog's, I'm impressed by the way he seems content to just sit there, surrounded by all that shiny stuff.

7. Swiss Army dog

The Scout motto is Be Prepared, so this Girl Scout came to the 2007 Tompkins Square Dog Parade with her own Swiss Army Dog. The doggie even looks a bit like one of those St Bernards the Swiss monks bred as mountain-rescue dogs.

8. Dachs Boot dog

Continuing the nationalistic theme, this little Dachshund is portraying the German submarine from the epic WWII movie Das… er… Dachs Boot. I'm not sure why it looks like he's about to steam off in reverse, but I guess it's easier to breathe that way.

9. Darth Vader Dog

Alongside the wizdom of the Jedi Master, there is always a dark side. Plenty of humans like to make fools of themselves by dressing up like Darth Vader, so why shouldn't your dog be able to join in on the fun?

Some of these are pretty crappy and cheap-*ss. Then again anyone that dresses their dog up should be taken out back and shot to be honest, Paris Hilton first.

The originality of these costumes is great! The dogs don't look overly excited to be in costume, but I think they're happy to do it for their owner's joy. Fun post, thanks.

none of these owners will ever wear dry socks again. WHY would you do this to your best friend? I mean really

By Clavis at 12:39 PM ON 10/26/09

The last dog looks like Darth Vader with his mask pulled off at the end of "Jedi"! I bet he even wheezes like the dying Anakin Skywalker did! Dogs rule!

Dogs rule.

Owners who dress their dogs up for Halloween need to be taken out back and have their throats slit.

I love the Battle-ready dog... that is a good one

We actually had a mastiff who loved dressing up. He'd get very excited and tried to get you to put the stuff on him. He had a giant bow tie that worked like a collar and one year a little girl asked what his costume was. We told her he was dressed as a little dog. When she was walking away we heard her whisper to her father "that's not a very good costume." (As a mastiff he weighed close to 200 lbs.)

This is the reason dogs bite people.
