A company called Vioguard has created a motorized keyboard that lives in its own little sterilizing-UV-light-shinin' box that kills germs while it's not in use. Need the keyboard? Waving your hand in front of an IR sensor will bring it out, so there's no button to get dirty.
Do me a favor: look down at your keyboard. When was the last time you cleaned it? I'm guessing never. Yet it's probably one of the dirtiest gizmos you own. It's not such a big issue for the home user, but compound that problem in places where a keyboard sees a multitude of different hands — or, like in a hospital, where it needs to be clean — and suddenly I'm feeling a little sick to my stomach.
And now do me another favor: look into your wallet. Don't have $900, huh? Me, either. A dirty keyboard it is!
Check out the video below for a demonstration.

With the infectious disease scares and such, having something like that for the keyboards in hospitals and possibly schools would be a god send. You should see the keyboards at some places!

I'm willing to bet that I encounter more bacteria and general grossness on every keyboard I've ever used than what I encountered this past week when working on my cars. And I'm pretty sure I'm still coughing up some rust and garage dirt... But it's probably cleaner than my newest keyboard in my house, too.
Now, build this thing into a lap-top and you're in business.

Geez again,
People who comment don't see the big pictures. Universities and Institutions that do various disease studies who are constantly at risk for contracting the most dangerous germs would utilize this keyboard design. Yes hospitals would be nice, but most of those in the US are too broke to establish a workforce of computers that are fitted with this computer would be astronomical upgrade in $$ wise.
