Axel Enthoven's 'Opera' is the fanciest trailer home you'll ever see

Axel Enthoven\'s \'Opera\' is the fanciest trailer home you\'ll ever see

The "Opera," designed by Belgian architect Axel Enthoven, takes obvious cues from the the Sydney Opera House in Australia. We can't fault it for that, either — it's downright gorgeous.

It's just as luxurious inside as it is out, according to the designer:

"…every conceivable luxury: two first class and electrically adjustable beds that become one with a single simple movement, hot and cold water, ceramic toilet, LED lighting and a mobile hob and barbecue, for example, for cooking outside."
What's more, it's not just a flight of fancy, either. A small number of Operas will be produced in 2010, and will likely fetch a pretty penny. Check out more in the gallery below.

I like the design. But I wish the head height for when you are sitting on the couch was better.

If you read the description, you'd realize those are two beds.

Why such a dark picture of the trlr when it was folded for travel. More pics that what is here would have been nice. Also some specs on it also

Wow..that looks safe and secure..like no-one with a knife couldnt just slice their way in and make off with valuables..still thats what insurance is for..right?

Hope they wind tested this puppy. Here in the Midwest that thing will be spiraling up there with Dorothy and Toto.

This is nothing more than a re-invented trailer tent (or Folding Caravan as they are sometimes called. The Cool Looks actually reduce headroom and space inside (something a folding caravan is usually designed to maximise) Check out this company for example http://www.trigano-trailertents.com/

This makes me think of two things... It looks like a cross between the Reavers from Starcraft and a Conestoga wagon.

Looks roomy, though. I'd buy one if I liked being cold at night... I must admit it would be nice for taking the kid camping (she's only 2). Then again, I lived in a trailer camper with my wife when we first met. It wasn't very nice... It was hot, buggy, and smelled of mildew.

having owned a tent, a pop-up and now a travel trailer, I would hate to think just how long the setup for this would take, especially if it's already raining and windy. No headroom for the sitting area, even if it does become a bed later, is a big deal breaker. And the toilet right at the head of the beds???? Being a guy, I know my wife would not want me in there when she's trying to sleep. I'm assuming the only people buying these are the people with money to prove they can afford to be different and uncomfortable.

What does it weigh? What tongue weight? Folded for travel is the top strong enough to support, say, a couple of 40 lb. kayaks? Where can I see one?

By dontfive at 11:13 PM ON 11/27/09

Why do you all insist on whining about setup time or kayak carrying capabilities? Are you incapable of appreciating an intrepid and beautiful design or must you have your little seven seconds of e-fame bitching about how much your life sucked when you had the "real-deal" experience of trailer life back in the day. So the toilet is right next to the bed - it's an f-ing travel-trailer!! When you're working on an 8x15ft platform there's not a whole lot of space to work with.
Windage, fair enough. But of course someone can break in with an f-ing knife. They could break into your home with a sledgehammer but that's obviously not the first thing on your mind when you feel like one-upping the designer with your petty 'critique'. Honestly it seems like it's more an issue of jealousy or inadequacy that you care so much to voice your opinion about not caring for it.
It's a good thing you're not the people shaping the future, you're just there to moan about it.

Nice but at what cost. Just wait a few weeks as we are about to launch the 4Sport, a trailer tent that looks great, carries all your sports kit (including kayaks), and costs under £3,000. Oh and it is self assembling (in about 30 seconds). No poles, no ropes.......
3 years in the design and prototyping stage this is the first time we have mentioned it anywhere.
