Typical dubai lies... I live here and this is the kind of news that makes people think this is an incredible and advanced society... when in actual fact it's just a cover... All these projects are gimmicks and are poorly constructed... plus people here have no freedoms at all... hell even the telecom monopoly sends spyware to it's blackberry users, not to mention blocking VOIP so that they can milk money from international calls... it's a disgrace and people are now leaving after the economic crisis (which hit here HARD - so much that the CITY needed a bailout). So much for utopia. Honestly though it's 110 degrees in here anyway so I don't see how this place could ever be a utopia...

Think draconian dystopia. Unless, of course, you want to live in a hell hole that subjugates your sisters, daughters and wife to the level of chatel; makes drinking beer, wine, and liquor against the law, and approaches life in general with reproach for ever enjoying God's great gifts to the human race: sex, rock and roll and dance (sometimes all the same thing).

Oh and of course actually living in Dubai sucks, it's an arabic country. What, were you misled before you went there and told that the whole arab thing was just a fad? They have no respect for women, they despise personal freedoms and privacies, and inalienable rights are just out of the question. That's EVERY arab country, and you knew that before you moved. Unless you were born there in which case I feel for you, sucks for you. At least it isn't as big of a craphole as Iran or Iraq or Saudi Arabia. I really wonder sometimes why people think that that style of life deserves to be respected and protected, or offered any degree of respect. It outta be eradicated as inhumane but then, somehow these days you get labeled as evil for toppling undeniably and unquestionably evil regimes so that's a no-go.

At least you can rest sure in the knowledge that America is doing its best to become as big of a freedomless craphole as the Arab world :D

Yep, It's sad the first things I noticed weree Voyager and Delta Flyer. It might only be Dubai but at least someone still dreams big.

You know, people need to respect other cultures for their way of living. Think of all the things we do in america that may offend someone else somewhere. For example we have the biggest homeless population of any other civilized nation out there. We have more people living below the poverty line, without health care and without educations than any other civilized nation. Our cities are in a state of stand still. New York can't even manage to get buildings over 1000 feet approved because of the festering NIMBY population that really should live in a cave in the middle of nowhere since they seem to hate cities and what city environments stand for (so why do they live in them?). I say if a little socialism brings us punctually into the future then so be it. Let us have it. We need it. Get those futuristic buildings built, and stop judging other's by their culture. After all it is american meddling in middle-eastern affairs that makes them hate us. You want to talk about oppression? America was founded on it. Eradicating native populations, bringing slaves over from africa, performing mind control experiments on its own citizens (MKULTRA). Tell you what, if you don't like other cultures stay out of their internal affairs!
