Sleek laptop concept has a keyboard or a tablet — you choose

Victor Bivol has designed a conceptual laptop for designers, by a designer. It doesn't look at that different, but the keyboard tray flips up and around to reveal it's tablet underside. No more Wacom tablet, no more mucking around with unwieldy (at least in this blogger's opinion) tablet PCs. You can switch between either mode on the fly.

It's not a real product, though I'd be tempted by it if it ever turned into one — and I only dabble in illustration. If something like this was standard on a laptop, do you think you'd ever take advantage of it?

Check out the gallery below for more of Bivol's combo laptop.

Doesn't this already exist with tablet PC laptops where you swivel the screen and lay it on top of the keyboard then use the screen to scribble on?

@Xanapus...

yes they do, they have been there for a while... so yes this concept is a fail.

This concept is a fail??
Wow, and I saw this as an improvement on the basic tablet design. Being a designer, I would rather this set up than the old style. But if you say it's a fail, it must be so.

Being a designer, and having a tablet-pc I indeed agree with the design fail. An epic one indeed,
as any good designer would prefer the touch-screen Cintiq ofer the standard Bamboo or Intuos.

Still looks pretty.....

While I'd personally rather draw on the serface that things are happening on, I do know a few artists that perfer to draw on a pad.

As it is, I just read an article that would make this design fairly practicle:

where does the computer go? its got screens on both sides and a keyboard.. oh wait. i think theres a little room for it over on the right side. well im no designer, but im pretty sure theres some space missing in there for components lol. If people were pissed about the macbook air having no cd-rom wait until they see this laptop that has 2 screens but no cpu or hard disk.

While this is a pretty idea I can't help wondering why they can't just program a keyboard onto the tablet..
