Toshiba to join the dark side by offering Blu-ray players

Toshiba to join the dark side by offering Blu-ray players

After 18 months of licking their wounds following the end of the Blu-ray vs HD-DVD format war, Japan's Daily Yomiuri is reporting that Toshiba plans to introduce a Blu-ray player "somewhere in the world" by the end of his year. This despite much speculation that Toshiba would rather tough it out by waiting until everyone was downloading their HD content, rather than signing up with the enemy.

At least Toshiba have been fairly quick to see the writing on the wall; Sony waited 12 years from the launch of VHS in 1976, before offering a VHS deck of their own.

If Toshiba really wanted to tick off the Blu-ray folks, they could just send out a press release saying that they plan to support the China Blue HD format.

Hey guys. Can you tell me what quality diffrence there is between bd and hd-dvd? As fars as i know. Even if bd is better then you cant see it with the naked eye. Not that i matters much now anyway.

A vast majority of the differences why Blu Ray is superior to HD-DVD don't even have to do with image quality, it includes capacity, sound, technology, etc...

Newsflash for BD fans: I have both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray. I performed blind tests with my friends using the same film. In every instance, my friends chose the HD-DVD film as having more clarity, better depth, etc. in comparison with the film on blu-ray. We're forced to live with blu-ray now, but the vast majority of people I've talked to have never experienced an HD-DVD film next to the blu-ray version.

I know Toshiba is a great brand when it comes to blu ray player too. I really admire this brand when it comes to technology. I wanted to see photos of this blu ray player here. Thanks for sharing.
