Sanyo unveils Repoch DVR with removable HDD cartridges

Presenting us with something that looks like a throwback to the days of VHS tapes, Japanese hardware maker Sanyo has launched the Repoch. The device is essentially a DVR (digital video recorder) that features both an analog and digital TV tuner.

In addition to the DVR feature, the device also offers an iVR (Information Versatile Disk) slot for 320 gigabyte HDD cartridges. Including one 160 gigabyte iVDR cartridge, the unit is scheduled to go on sale in Japan in September for 61,950 yen ($654).
