Water purifiers are rarely worthy of showing off. They're typically more function over form, if you know what I mean. However, this prototype is so pretty, you might be tempted to use it on already filtered water, instead of the germ-infested sludge it claims to clean.
The AquaIris uses a reusable removable filter that contains converter crystals where UVC rays kill germs as the water passes over the filter. I wonder if they'll make a slightly less fragile version for use while backpacking, and can it really keep contaminated water away from the filtered stuff? The video that follows makes it look simple enough. Can something this pretty really keep you safe?

Is it just me....or does that look like one of those adapters they sell to women so they can pee standing up?

These things are great. The design definitely makes it stand out. I would trade my brita filter for this one in a heartbeat. http://ziggytek.com/
