Mechanical horse finds its own fuel

Mechanical horse finds its own fuel

Project Nomad is a mechanical horse that can ride like the wind, climb up steep grades and navigate rocks and boulders. And for energy, it uses GPS to locate the most lush vegetation, wolfing it down and using it for fuel. Somehow, that gathered energy is transformed to its rider, too.

This design concept by Jason Battersby might not be that far-fetched. In fact, that noisy mechanical BigDog and other all-terrain robots all look like a first step toward such an animalistic mechanism.

However, that idea about gathering its own energy from plants, and then feeding the rider might not be that appetizing to finicky adventurers, though. We think designer Jason should next conceive a mechanical pterodactyl that can carry a couple of passengers. Beyond that, we're looking forward to an assortment of mechanical beasts, re-creating The Flintstones with metal and computers.

That actually sounds so cool. When I was playing EverQuest I had a Roboboar that I was always riding lol. I wouldn't mind having this robohorse.

Um...
Why not just get a real horse?
Bound to be cheaper.

I would actually really like this idea if he made them carnivores instead.
Any ways thanks for it..

I cant afford to keep feeding and stabling a real horse, but I can at least get a loan for this and keep it in my garage!
This does look cool though...

Finally, we're a step closer to establish the Galaxy Rangers because in 2086, two peaceful aliens journey to Earth, seeking our help. In return, they give us the plans...

Plastics, petroleum-based lubricants, and a energy scheme that involved defoliating the entire planet...

Imagine millions of these running around, each eating acres of vegetation to go a few miles. (Not a whole lot of energy bound up in your average weeds)

Nice! I like the new Greenpeace!

By Giggity at 11:51 AM ON 07/08/09

lol, i like that logic Hired...
How bout if they make it generate its electricity from our fat @sses as we bounce up and down on it while riding?
That should generate at least 1.21 gigawatts!

Hal...i do like this exactly for that same reason you stated...cool old cartoons.

hmm, I didn't know drawings of dreams are now called design concepts. Make it reality and I'll be impressed, and then make if for less then $100,000 U.S. and I will be really impressed. oh, and make go over 25 mph and able to at least walk all day. On the positive side I'm sure you can make it, if you burn enough money to do it.
