K-Box transforms your furniture into speakers

Nothing to do with Shia and Megan's latest adventure, the K-Box is rather a clever little trick. The size of a smartphone, it connects up to your iPod or cell via the headphones jack and then resonates to transform whatever surface it's sitting on into a giant speaker, using its patented gel audio technology.

Retailing at around $65, the K-Box seems like rather a fab gadget to take on your travels. Whether it will replace the traditional dock, however, remains to be seen, since it doesn't offer recharging. Oh, and on the subject of recharging, Kerchoonz, the social networking music site who created the K-Box, claim that their gizmo can go for 20 hours on a single charge. That's a lot longer than your iPod!

the k-box is rechargeable. I plug it into my usb and it works with mains recharge too. you just use the usb charger with the ipod mains adapter or plug it into your computer to charge

it's also a lot bigger than I imagined, what's the advantage of this over regular speakers?
