Couple goes woefully astray following GPS directions

Couple goes woefully astray following GPS directions

At some point, you have to wonder when common sense was replaced with sheer stupidity naivety. A couple of Swedish tourists visiting Italy took a 400-mile detour on their way to the isle of Capri. Instead of entering the name of that lovely island into their GPS, they accidentally typed "Carpi," a not-so-lovely city 400 miles away from Capri. Instead of questioning the detour, they drove all the way to the industrial town in northern Italy, without even questioning the fact that they never took a ferry ride or crossed a large body of water.

We've all been in a situation where we question the accuracy our GPS devices. But, how far do you go before you double-check it, or just shut the damn thing off?

I know that you are trying to be P.C. in your article, but it WAS sheer stupidity..not naivety.
Making a typo is no biggie...but not checking it?

Dunno...maybe they were driving at night.
That would remove tell-tale signs like position of the sun or seeing water.

GPS can be useful, but I know far too many people that rely on it exclusively now.
Even to get to places they already knew the way to. This is why we have people driving into ditches.

GPS is a guide...not a crutch.

I think you meant "grammar skill" or "gramatical skills"

I probably would have been laughing after finding out that I didn't head to the right place.
