Just when you thought you had seen all the solar-powered gadgets imaginable, a company in the UK is selling baseball caps with solar-powered LED lights for $50. The top of the brim is a solar panel that powers two LED lights under the brim. Spend a day hiking and have enough light to read a book in your tent or navigate at night. Or simply see where you're going when you walk the dog before bed.
Not the most efficient system out there, the solar caps initially take three days to charge to capacity, and then offer five hours of full-strength power. Then, a mere eight hours of daylight will recharge the system. The lights can shine up to 30 feet, depending on the angle of the cap.
Now, who's to say if you're just styling when you wear your hat backwards or are you just trying to catch as much sunshine as possible?

Baseball caps should be banned. Only baseball players and the mentally challenged should be allowed to wear them in public.

Don't forget bald people because if I don't wear a baseball cap during the summer the top of my head burns so fast. When people call me "Red" I'd like it to be because of my hair color and not the color of the top of my head.

@ Mr. Gumsandals, that has to be one of the dumbest, in a long line of dumb, posts I have ever seen. Under intense sun light keeping a head cover is important. I guess your just practicing your First Amendment rights of free speech but, there is an old saying you would do well to remember. "It is better to keep one's mouth shut and have people suspect your a fool. Than it is to open one's mouth and remove all doubt."

TearEmUp, you must be a member of PETA. Thank you for proving your point and mine too (regarding the mentally challenged). My problem with baseball hats is that they lack style. Give me a cowboy hat or a hat with a brim any day. Or even a backward Kangol but hats with bills got to go.

Well, Mr. Gumsandals, you are quite the witty one, aren't you? TearEmUp had it right with that quote of his: "It is better to keep one's mouth shut and have people suspect you a fool than it is to open one's mouth and remove all doubt." I personally am not a fan of baseball caps; I find them somewhat uncomfortable and rather useless for protecting one's neck. In fact the last time I wore one was about five or more years ago. But that doesn't mean I'm going to call every one who wears one an imbecile (I will, however, call YOU an imbecile). And your OPINION that they lack style does NOT give you the right to insult anyone who CHOOSES to wear one because they OPINE that they are stylish. You have your (baseless) opinion, and they have theirs (though likely equally baseless, but then that is the definition of style). Also, saying that only the mentally challenged should be allowed to wear them is rude, obnoxious, insulting, and utterly GRACELESS that I am surprised only one other person has chastised you for it. If people wish to wear a hat that you so very obviously have a vehement dislike for, SHUT THE FRAK UP AND SUCK IT UP. I frankly couldn't care less about your First Amendment rights, because frankly, you, sir, are an ass.
And what the hell is all that about PETA? It makes literally no sense whatsoever.
On the note of the hat itself, I think it would be much more effective if they used a much larger surface area for the solar panels, like with a large brimmed hat. Of course you may look a fool, but as I pointed out earlier, that is merely opinion and should, at best, be kept to oneself anyway.

A Member of PETA, wow. Did you work all day on that? I suggest you go get a cool drink (or are you afraid of Fluoride?), and perhaps take a nap. Since your sense of fashion is so highly developed, its obvious you spend a lot of time sitting at your computer.
Thank you so very much for not only proving my point, but proving it so eloquently. I anxiously await your next post with baited breath. Maybe you'll write something about how Sammy Sosa did not use steroids. Or, perhaps, denying the holocaust. Oh, boy, is this going to be fun! I can't wait. Please, oh please, teach me to be as idiotic as you. Your kung fu is strong, oh hubris one.

TearEmUp, why don't you leave poor Mr. Gumsandals alone, every one has a right to their own opinion, and their opinion is just as valid as yo....Wow, I thought I could do it, I thought I could defend his opinion, but....I just can't do it, that has got to be one of the stupidest things I've read in quite a while. "a member of PETA", some insult you got there, sorry TearEmUp, please have at em.
