Sharp's anime-inspired phone gets a cameo in the hugely popular Evangelion
In the US, gadgety goodies often have cameos in movies and television shows. James Bond uses a Nokia 8800 in Casino Royale, Apple computers and iPods are all over the place and even in video games (Snake uses an iPod in Metal Gear Solid 4), and Sony somehow survived Judgment Day and popped up in Terminator Salvation.
In Japan, marketers know real impactful tie-ins apparently lie with anime, and Sharp's limited edition "SH-06A NERV" phone, also being called the Evangelion Phone, will appear in the anime of the same name. The phone has been reworked beautifully with an Evengelion graphic user interface and features a 10 megapixel camera, 3.3-inch LCD, and a painted body that looks like it could fit right into the show.
DoCoMo and Sharp will be producing around 30,000 of the phones, and they'll only work in Japan. Click continue to check out some other shots of the phone, including its sweet interface.

That's because Sony is on the side of Skynet and the terminators. Their first stealth probe was the Sony BMG rootkit virus which they distributed on consumer audio CDs.

Even being an Evangelion fan, $1000 for any cell phone it fricken outrageous, let alone one that will only work in Japan. I really like the design though.

This is the soprt of media tie-in I like. Stuff that looks like what the characters inthe show would carry.
A Star Trek themed phone could all take a cue from this- build us a phone that looks like a communicator, with sounds from the series. Captain Kirk wallpaper is not sufficient.
