Palm Pre shown running hardware-accelerated Doom
Wondering if you should hop on board with the new Palm Pre? Well, it's gotten pretty great reviews and appears to be a solid smartphone, probably the only one out there to truly rival the iPhone. But wait. Does it play Doom?
It does now! Thanks to some handy hackers, the Palm Pre has been shown capable of playing a hardware-accelerated version of Doom and it looks pretty good. And if that doesn't sell you on the Pre, well, I don't know what will.

Are you serious? The G1 Android more than rivals the iPhone. And I've been playing Doom on mine for a while now.

I second that responce, this phone doesnt even rival the g1, how could it rival the iphone?
some reviews that compare things to apple are just odd in my opinion, it seems like everytime someone comes out with a cool phone they call it a potential "iphone killer", and this review is saying that the good feed back and the ability to 'almost' play doom is what makes it a rival for the iphone, and while the g1 does this and more already, no one has given it the title of actually being better than the iphone in a review. just my opinion
on a side note, doom would be horrible to play on the pre from the looks of it, the keyboard is so narrow and no trackball

the more amazing feat here, is that their writers have praised a device other than the iphone. the end IS near!

Oh please...I have an OLD PPC-6700, and I've been playing doom on it, almost TWO years before the iPud even came out.
