Classy Bugatti Stratos is what mobsters will drive in 2099

Classy Bugatti Stratos is what mobsters will drive in 2099

The Bugatti Stratos is a slick design by France's Bruno Delussu, who was inspired by classic cars such as the Bugatti Type 57, Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Mille Miglia and locomotive designs by Raymond Loewy. Delussu wasn't so interested in the technical aspects of those vehicles, however. He designed the Stratos to be a purely fantastical car that leans on its looks.

And lean on its looks it can. The end result, as you can see, is pretty impressive, affecting a retro air that's still undoubtedly futuristic. Check out more of the Bugatti Stratos in the gallery below.

"So... Does it come in black?"

By Qwerty Uiop at 2:17 PM ON 06/26/09

That is the most insane looking car I've seen in a very long time!!

("insane" in a VERY good way!)

By trinity343 at 3:01 PM ON 06/26/09

hmmmm no speed bumps for this car

By SteelFox at 3:56 PM ON 06/26/09

It does not go over speed bumps, it intimidates them out of the way.

By stargate525 at 4:22 PM ON 06/26/09

Ugh, it's hideous; it looks like its sucking in its gut.

By Farrah Fawcett at 4:55 PM ON 06/26/09

It looks like it was designed by R. Crumb...

By Brewski5 at 10:04 PM ON 06/26/09

It's looking like the Batmobile from the animated "Batman Beyond"

By Thuses at 4:19 AM ON 06/27/09

so, does it do anthing besides look cool and go forwards & backwards ???? like turn a corner or, are there supposed to be a hover engine in there somewhere.....if not it'd be great for a ramp

By LeonKaiser at 4:46 AM ON 06/27/09

Utter badassery right there, I don't care if it cannot turn or go over speed bumps. First off, the earth would find this car so beautiful it would move the roads to become straight, and speed bumps? They would just suck themselves right into the ground to let this beauty pass.

I want one of these. xD

Me Want!

By Peter at 8:47 PM ON 06/27/09

Looks like they swiped the design from a fancy computer mouse. The Millennium Falcon came from a hamburger with a olive on the side....so why not this?

By HalJordan at 10:07 PM ON 06/27/09

I agree with Brewski5. Throw a bat-head on the grill and some wings on the back...boom! BATMOBILE!

By don at 11:26 AM ON 06/28/09

wow~it's cool~~~~

By Dave.T at 10:07 AM ON 06/29/09

Absolute Bad-Ass. Line forms behind me folks.

By BrainiacV at 4:56 PM ON 06/29/09

Um, uh, where are the doors? Looks like you crawl in through the trunk. Or they seal you in and you are buried in it.

By Journe at 10:38 PM ON 06/29/09

Maybe it's just me, but this reminds me of the cars driven in the anime series "The Big O". Anyone else feel that way?

By Asylum at 12:23 AM ON 07/02/09

looks cool but A) do the front wheels even touch the ground? B) Cornering = bad idea, and C) Does it come with an ejector seat? I'd hate to wreck in that thing.

By stpatme at 4:35 AM ON 07/02/09

a) The rear view from the interior mirror might not be street-legal. b) Ground clearance! Potholes will always be with us, and getting up out of it can't be easy. c) I want mine in silver.

By corax at 10:08 AM ON 07/02/09

give me some help here please?

where are the doors and how do they open/
thank you

By Beedo at 11:31 AM ON 07/02/09

Very stylish, although the "spacey" bits don't blend so perfectly with the art deco bits. And a couple of points raised above make very good sense. Free up the wheels and improve the ground clearance, and I'd sell my internal organs to get one of these. Otherwise, it's just a beautful but insanely impractical piece of sculpture.

I love the futuristic car designs I've seen on this site, but in the comments I keep reading "what about speed bumps and pot holes?". Give me something cool like this one (I like the front view better than the side view but cool none the less), but that could pratically be driven on a real road. Like the Foos Designs http://www.chipfoose.com/gallery.aspx?LinkID=hplnk1

By deadhead at 6:54 PM ON 07/02/09

Where is the back seat; Somethings need to make a comback.

By mnementh at 2:02 AM ON 07/03/09

Oh, good lord... it's a radio-controlled toy, you gits.

I think the Mob would be more worried about trunk space. Is that a 2 or 3 body trunk?
