Atari 2600 iPod dock is downright awesome

Atari 2600 iPod dock is downright awesome

Here's something that combines two objects near and dear to my heart: the iPod and the Atari 2600.

This homemade dock cleverly places the iPod connector where the cartridge used to go, keeping the form recognizable. Of course, if this was an iPhone dock that had a functioning TV out and a way to use controllers to play iPhone games on the TV, that would be even more awesome, but that may be getting greedy.

How is it clever? It does the same as the cable that's supplied with the iPod, except making it take up 100x the space and rendering the Atari useless. Why not put an iPod in a shoe, or a breadbin, or a packing crate - it would be just as 'awesome' and 'clever'. What a waste of time and effort. No wonder the world's going to crap with people doing this kind of thing instead of something that is actually useful. It seems everyone in this world just wants to make small things, useless things out of old things, and generally show off how great they are because they've managed to fit their iPod into a grand father clock. Woopee and what a waste of time, even if that time is spare - you could be playing with your children, or volunteering, or socialising and increasing your inter-personal skills, instead of stewing in your parents basement. Go and invent something useful such as cheap, practical, clean and renewable power and I'll be impressed.

For the record, it would not be nearly as cool to turn a 'breadbin' into an iPod dock.

How is this NOT clever? Granted, I agree that it needs a TV out - and joystick controls would have been awesome (also the toggle switches on the console).

All I'm saying is that if someone has to solve the energy crisis to impress you, then your standards may have been too high for an atari mod.

Yeah, I'd be more impressed if someone could figure out a way to dock an iPod in a Troll's mouth. I would pay for that.

I'd also be more impressed if the comment form would not tell me it failed due to incorrect captcha, when in fact it succeeded.

These iPod Docks are getting more sexy by the minute. Now all it needs to do is play the theme to pole position everytime its fully charged, were good.

It's an iPod dock shoved through a plastic hole.

Are you really that desperate for content?

What a waste of an Atari console. I'd find a different hobby.
