Zip it: YI Zipper earphones keep cables zipped up and tidy
Just about every earphone cable will tangle if I get anywhere near it. Never fails. Even the ones with the adjustable length still manage to become a mess if I just look at them funny.
A new concept design from Ji Woong feature a zipper that lets you zip them up to eliminate cable knots. Bonus points for the volume and hold feature in the zipper pull. As this is just a concept at this time, no price or availibility, but if real manufacturers are paying attention, maybe we'll actually see this hit the streets.
In the mean time, if anyone is handy with a needle and thread, could you make one for me?

Just the zipper as headphones idea is cool, but having them double as a volume control is awesome!!!

The zipper is a cool idea, although I wouldn't have it go up so far since it would be unpleasant tohave it rub against one's face.
I don't think the volume control would work however as you would need some kind of physical lead between the control knob and the headphones and there doesn't seem to be anything like that in this design as the zipper teeth are made of plastic and the chord appears sealed in a fabric "seleeve" to which the zipper attaches.
Also adding such functions might not be desireable since the zipper would presumeably be constantly pulled up and down adding mechanical stress to what would need to be very fine electronic components. Also it would invariably drive up the cost of the headphones to add a function that all MP3 players already have.
I think this is a good idea, but without the volume control. If you made a set of decent headphones with this zipper feature I would definitely buy them!

depending on how heavy that zipper is (dont want them popping out of my ears) id consider getting some in all black or white.
