The $215 Electro-Harmonix Voice Box might just be good enough to put a few backup singers out of work. It's smart, using the chords of a musical instrument plugged into it to determine how it'll harmonize a voice, playing back gorgeous three- and four-part harmony that's electromagically created.
The highly skilled yet nonchalant chanteuse Nataly Dawn (from the band Pomplamoose) nails this excellent composition, selling the Voice Box effect magnificently — adding credence to the notion that even when all the electronic wizardry in the world is brought to bear, sheer talent still prevails.
Even so, this device could at least put some good arrangers on the street.

I'm just...wow. I mean, I love that technology is making music more accessible, and all. But with this, auto-tune, all the other things ProTools can do...I don't know. It just kind of cheapens the thing for me. But, that might just be the caveman in me talking, hiding in my cave, all scared of the sun.
