How small do USB drives have to get before they're officially too small? This EagleTec USB Nano Flash Drive is pushing the limit, but even at its Lilliputian dimensions, it can still stuff 8 GB in there. Good thing it has a little hook on the end so you can attach it to your keychain, or you would lose it the first day you had it.
It's cheap, too. A mere $33 takes home the 8GB model, and if that's too steep for you, the 4GB version is $22. While its 6Mb per second write speed is not exceptionally fast, it'll do in a pinch. Our idea for a future version: give it a tiny slot that accepts microSD cards.

Where did you get those prices? If I look on their own site, it's 99 bucks for the 4 GB...

Um, Why not just use SD cards? The are smaller, and the last one I bought last year gave me 16Gigs and has a 480 Mbps Read/Write Transfer Rate $39 - Transcent # TS16GSDHC6

I dig this thing. It looks like a nice way to carry around a portable OS. One question though, what filesystem does it use? Can it use HFS or NTFS so that files greater than 4GB can be created? I'm still using dinky 2GB drives with FAT32.
@No1_vern: SDHC cards aren't as universally accepted as USB devices are, and you need to have a reader. It isn't the optimal way to carry data with you to use on every computer you come across. If they work for you, great, but there's no way that you're getting 480Mbps out of it. That's the ENTIRE USB 2.0 bandwidth, which isn't even technically possible to exploit due to file system overhead. Whether or not this is faster than your Transcent card remains to be seen.

@CJW: I doubt it's fast enough to run a portable OS. With a 6MBps write speed, the read speed probably isn't that much better.

im more interested in that computer. looks sleek.
and that reminds me of the tiny, cube-shaped mp3 player by MobiBLU. as small as a freaking sugar cube.

The computer is a MacBook Air. The USB, audio, and display ports swing down slightly for use.
