UNI watch gives myriad looks to its face

uni_watch2.jpgHere's a question for you: who's watching the Watchmen? Well, DVICE is. Last week was Baselworld, the CES of horology (I'm Cancerian, if you must know) where all the top-end watch manufacturers get together and show off their new designs to their discerning fans. One watch that wasn't on display, however, was the UNI, designed by Takemura Ori.

It's a fairly simple concept — nothing scary like some of those Tokyo Flash timepieces that you need a double first in astrophysics to read. But what sets the UNI apart from the crowd is the fact that you can customize its face to change its design.

uni_watch.jpgDon't you just love that spiralling seconds thing that's going on in the photo above? Very H.G. Wells' Time Machine, if you ask me. The UNI is made of soft plastic, connects via USB to your computer, and uses software that allows you to change the color, font and design of the display on its full color OLED screen. The watch only flashes on when the wearer turns his wrist, thanks to its built-in accelerometer. It's simple and complex at the same time — no wonder I like it, it sounds a bit like me.

Cool, now we can make our own style on how to display the time. How much?
