Swanky wood projection clock goes vertical or horizontal

Oregon Scientific brings its weather clockiness to the luxo market with this Auto Rotate Wooden Projection Clock. Vertically or horizontally, this swank bedside timepiece automagically aims to please. Not only does it tell you the time in nice tall numbers for those of us who are bleary-eyed, it shows you the inside and outside temperature, along with its best guess at the weather forecast.

Of course, it's hooked up to the atomic clock, giving you uncanny accuracy. We like its time projector, splashing the numbers on the ceiling or wall for nighttime viewing, letting you know how much longer until its dreaded alarm jars you from your blissful slumber.

Nice clock, representing a luxury departure for those Scientific Oregonians. Too bad its woody luxo-look comes with a high price to match — it'll set you back $130, and it's "coming soon."

There was a time when the "hip and cool" (or, children's projection clocks) had the same features as the other atomic clocks by Oregon Scientific, but they cost half as much. I thought that, even though the looks were more iMac-ish at the time, it was a less expensive way to get the same features. Guess it depends on if you care about the looks to get the wood one or not.
