Denon turntable hides USB digital transfer powers in an old school body

Denon turntable hides USB digital transfer powers in an old school body

Amazingly, there are still legions of vinyl fans grudgingly transferring their tunes to a digital format in a number of clunky ways. A new entry in the analog-to-digital toolbox is Denon's DP-200USB. A refreshingly classy device (read: it doesn't look like a time machine), the unit could easily be mistaken for a turntable of old until you get a close look at the USB port built to facilitate the digital transfers of your favorite discs to a USB flash drive or PC hard drive.

Unfortunately, the bundled software only works with Windows XP and Vista, so Mac users are out of luck. Perhaps the most attractive thing about the DP-200USB is its price: just $250 to usher your collection into the 21st century, available here.

What software? Is there some sort of PC-app? or does it just use PC-formatted media?

It looks like it converts and sends it to a FAT-formatted disc, either hard drive, or flash drive.

A mac can read a FAT-formatted disc, and pull the files off. Unless they are WMA or some stupid thing, they are completely useable. Why would they not be standardized media (mpeg-type) format files?

Pardon me, BoxerFanatic, do you see the purple lettered link in the second line that says "DP-200USB". Put your cursor on it and click the left button on your mouse. Good. What do you see? OMG!!! It's the Denon product description page!! What a concept. A link to the product page like almost every other product or new idea they put here. Kinda spoils it for you. They actually answer your question before you ever thought of it... called effective marketing strategy.
