A lot of energy in various kinds of motion is wasted. But that's why we invented automatic watches and regenerative brakes. It's also the gist behind this hot-looking rocking chair. Made by Czech design studio Novague, the chair, called Move Your Energy, has a mechanism that converts its natural rocking motion into electricity that powers the an LED reading light. Not reading just this second? Turn of the lamp and use your rocking to charge the battery.
While the design in the Photoshops is way too modern for my taste (needs some armrests in a bad way), the concept has lots of merit. Even if you couldn't realistically get enough power to continuously light the LED, recovering energy that would otherwise be lost is an idea we can definitely get behind.
