Cardboard Scandock turns your iPhone into a document scanner

scandockiphone.jpg

High tech meets low tech with this simple corrugated cardboard stand, that makes capturing document images with your iPhone a snap. If you've ever attempted to scan a document by just holding up your phone, you'll know that a blurry image is often the result. This simple stand created by University of Cincinnati DAAP student Kyle A Koch, is an elegant and green solution that holds both the phone and document in the perfect position to get a sharp capture. The stand comes flat packed for just $16 through the Ponoko design store.

Of course if you insist on something a bit more high tech, you could always make a scanner using Lego.

My first reaction is: DUMB. But, I do this a lot already. I hate having paper in my life, and most of the paper I'd otherwise have to carry is disposable and unimportant enough to just photograph with my iPhone. $16 is a lot for what this is. I'd rather have an opensource PDF template from Instructables, so I could recycle a diaper box or something.

CMON! It's called you put the phone on the edge of your desk and done...

Hmm, for $16? I'll think of it. Nice idea though.

this is great.. I think the cardboard is more stream line than the lego structure would be.. plus you can just fold it away when you don't needed..

What a waste of paper and money!!! it's amazing how people these days are getting lazier and lazier!

Have you tried an tripod and a normal photograph machine??

By robert_t at 11:08 AM ON 05/05/09

I can't quite follow what NNN means as this is not about producing waste paper but potentially recycling waste cardboard.

What I do think is that selling this for $16 is ok but providing a template for others to use to RECYCLE cardboard and make their own is significantly better!

I may try this... ;)
