XXI century sundial ditches the sun for lasers

laserdial.jpgI always appreciate old objects being updated for the 21st century, and objects don't get much older than the sundial. Used for telling time when shadow-based technology was the bleeding edge, it's not quite as useful now. Unless you add lasers. Then it gets pretty awesome.

That's what the Laserdial is: a sundial that ditches the boring old sun for a sweet laser. The laser is mounted on an RC servo that's driven by a micro controller, which keeps the time and rotates the laser. Sure, it's not as easy to read as a digital watch, but it's much harder to put a Laserdial on your wrist.
