The force is strong with Beer2-D2

beer2D2.jpgSay hello to Beer2-D2. This ingenious combo of beer keg and beloved Star Wars robot was created by a fellow who goes by the name of Lockwasher, and it's amazing. Sure, he probably doesn't serve beer anymore and he definitely isn't going to sass talk you using a series of beeps and bloops, but I think the inherent charm in this thing overcomes all other objections. I want it.

Looks like this was modeled in Lightwave or Maya, something along those lines. The top of it has a clear reflection of the surroundings (HDMI map), but the bottom where the feet are doesn't have shadows that are believeable, in my opinion. Otherwise, it looks pretty cool.

Am I the only one who thinks it's just an ad for Heinekin? I mean honestly, 99.9% of kegs are blank on the sides, and he finds the one with the giant Henekin logo on it? I still award it geek points, but really, they should be more upfront about what they're trying to do here.

It's a 5L mini-keg, in size not that much larger than a pitcher.
