Nordic Rock: Fred Flintstone's ice cube of choice

nordic_rocks.jpgFrom the country that bought us Abba, smorgasbords, the Pirate Bay and Skype comes Nordic Rock: Ice cubes made of ancient Swedish pollution-free base rock. Pop them in your freezer to chill for about an hour before tossing them — gently, mind — into your glass when mixing yourself a drink. They come in packs of 10 and cost $23.

Nordic Rock works on so many levels. The cubes are ecologically sound — just rinse them under the tap after use — and they're good gifts for anyone with a large Korn and Pantera music collection, not to mention that special Neanderthal in your life. Just don't get over-excited at a party and start chucking them at your frenemies. As the product page puts so succinctly, "Stone does not melt."

If only the guys at SciFi were this inventive. You know what I mean

Free base rock for $23? I thought it was inner city pollution, i had no idea crack originated in Sweden...

By brodnik at 6:30 AM ON 03/24/09

i would like that

By Addy at 7:55 AM ON 03/24/09

Skype wasn't made in Sweden.

By Bronson at 8:08 AM ON 03/24/09

Trust the Swedes to come up with something like this.

These are super cool looking and are sure to be a conversation piece.

Puts a new meaning to a 'martini on the rocks'

By anonymous at 1:25 PM ON 03/24/09

mmh, I wonder what the rocks do to the glass surface... and, by the way, isnt there any radioactivity masureable (ie marble)... think of it before use.

By JPFR at 9:07 AM ON 03/26/09

FINALLY!! You can now have your drink on the rocks and not mean ice.

By Asuras at 10:02 AM ON 03/26/09

That...is...amazing...

By Laenerin at 5:09 PM ON 03/26/09

That would be even cooler if it came in different shapes. Or in sizes not small enough to swallow/choke on.

By Sean at 9:58 AM ON 04/03/09

@Laenerin - How often do you choke on ice cubes?

By kyle at 11:41 AM ON 04/03/09

Korn and Pantera?

Why not Swedish metal like At the Gates, Opeth, In Flames, Meshuggah, Arch Enemy, hell even Yngwie Malmsteen or Europe would be better than Korn...

Cool idea though, I want some.

I agree with Kyle...and rock most certainly does melt, just not at room temperature.
