iPhone OS 3.0 preview tomorrow, copy/paste rumors abound

3359469699_828696e6e0.jpgThe rumblings about the upcoming iPhone operating system 3.0 preview tomorrow are beginning to crescendo into a roar, with the main rumor being that the iPhone will finally, after two years, have the ability to cut/copy/paste text. Here's the way Digg founder and iPhone rumormonger extraordinaire Kevin Rose foretells it:

Cut and paste in 3.0
- Users magnify or double tap a word to bring up cut and paste
- Pinch "boundaries" to select word(s); Rose called them "copy boundaries"
- Then you get option to cut, paste or copy

The rumor mill also posits there will not be video recording on the iPhone 3.0, but there's some disagreement about whether there will be MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service, or pictures/video with messaging). We'd like to see the ability to tether the iPhone to a laptop, so we could use its 3G connection on the road.

The funny thing? All these features are available if you jailbreak your iPhone — we've used these jailbroken copy/paste, MMS, and modem apps and can tell you first-hand: they work well, are nice to have on the iPhone, and are here. Now.

Join us tomorrow at 1pm Eastern Time, where we'll get you the scoop as it happens.

I've also heard possibility an announcement of a tablet based iPhone/laptop hybrid. Based off of communication from the company that manufactures the touch screens.
