Compost your leftovers in your apartment

composter.jpgLooking to live a more environmentally friendly lifestyle? Well, one quick way to do that is to begin composting. If you live in a rural area, this is as easy as setting up a compost pile in your yard. But if you live in the city, what should you do with your organic waste?

The Terraviva Domestic Composter is like an indoor compose pile. Simply put your fruit peels and leftovers inside, plug it in for at least 20 minutes a day, and it'll use aerobic microorganisms to break down your food into perfect compost for your windowsill vegetable garden. At least it would, if it was a real product and not a concept. But hey, maybe someday.

ummm.... someday?

They've been making things like this for a while now. Google Search NatureMill. First saw it on an energy special on the History channel.

Ya, I was about to link a NatureMill myself... it's a decent idea, just way to expensive for what it does...

Yeah no kidding. As the technology improves and more companies start making 'em, they'll get cheaper though.

Plug it in?! A composting device that requires energy is environmentally backwards and hypocritical. Composting creates energy thermally and in the form of biogas. You should be able to plug chargers into your compost bin.
