The tiny, turbo-charged Tramontana R, a 760 horsepower joyride for two

Tramontana-R.jpgFor a whopping $495,000, you can buy a barn — a turbo-charged one that looks like a jet fighter without wings and comes packed with 760 horses. It's the Tramontana Group's Tramontana R Edition, and it's a lot of speed in a small package. The two-seater weighs in at around 2,750 pounds, and it's only 16 feet long and just a bit more than four high. It can go from 0-100 kph in only 3.6 seconds. After that, you can hit 200 kph in just over 10.

That all sounds pretty damn impressive to me. Even more eye-catching, though, is the Tramontana R's sleek good looks. It's like a Transformer waiting to happen. Check out more of it in the images below.

You know, I am sick of seeing these cars built for speed coming to fruition a lot faster than cars built for convention. Why the hell is it taking so long for little 100 mile range intra-city electric vehicles to become a reality but these ultra-fast speed monsters are getting churned out by the dozen? Forget it, we already know the answer. Disgustingly evil american oil companies prohibiting development of alternative powered automobiles. And I called it prohibition on purpose, because that is what it is, an active attempt at halting development of a certain something. This problem is specific to america, I might add.

Man, it's not about mph. This car hits 100 kph in 3.6s and 200 kph in 10 seconds. Please, give us some good info and check Autoblog before you put down these wrong words. cheers!

actually, i'm quite proud of the fact that, during my recent trip from houston, texas, to a boutique automaker similar to the one above that i was able to discourage him from using solar panels on his next vehicle and instead will be using evil crude oil instead. feel my power!

By AUTOMAKERBOTIQUE at 9:14 AM ON 02/27/09

WHAT?! You told me that the solar panels would add too much deadweight!! i'm changing vendors!

Moron. kph, not mph as the other gentleman stated. Actually I think this thing would be a huge pain in the butt to drive. Just imagine the neck strain from constantly looking around the A-pillars all the time. It'd be fun on the Autobahn or something like that, but that's it.

The true time is 0 to 60 mph (not 100 mph) in about 3.5 seconds since 100 kph is just a little over 62 mph. Still impressive though.

the two morons who like to antagonize will choke on their own evil oil soon, in the form of coz polluted ozone breaks! suck it up mister arrogance!

If you're looking for small economical car designs, check out VW's "One Liter", so named because it uses 1 single liter of diesel to travel 100 kilometres

Eh, $495,000 is be a bit steep for the average bloke on the street. Get a Tiger Z100 (twin suzuki GSXR engined kit car) 0 - 60mph in 2.8 secs (world record holder)! £15,000 ($21,195 USD)

By Yesiree Bob at 7:45 PM ON 03/05/09

Dude, how is 2.8 secs a world record (unless it's for some special class or something) when the Veyron is RECORDED to do the deed in 2.5 seconds CONSISTENTLY?

From Car and Driver:
1. Bugatti Veyron 16.4
Base Price: $1,657,700
0-to-60-mph time: 2.5 sec
Quarter-mile time: 10.1 @ 142 mph

(Road and Track pulled off the 0-60 run in 2.6 seconds, which is well within just about any margin of error)

This car's performance isn't really exceptional, especially given the price. That's a lot of stated horsepower, but the acceleration is matched by any number of more familiar supercars--that actually look attractive. Maybe its niche appeal is for people who like the Formula-1-with-a-roof look.
