Phillip Dean, a graduate of the Coventry University specializing in transportation design, designed the C-XC as part of a job placement assignment with Jaguar. With sleek stylings like that, we hope he got the job.
On paper, the C-XC is powered by a hydrogen fuel cell, with a single-piece glass upper hull that covers the length of the vehicle and improves its aerodynamic profile and keep the inside of the vehicle well lit. Likewise, the covered tires are designed to help keep it lean and mean and, though it may never be manufactured, its production notes include enviro-friendlier materials such as vegetable tan leather and recycled plastic bottles.
Part of getting a new technology accepted in the automotive world, it seems, is making it look good. So far, Dean's on the right track.

Whoa. That's a sleek design. It would be neat to know if it could function as well as have a great form!

wow. I know that wheel covers make a car more aerodynamic, but on past cars...it was a FAIL.
But now...these wheel covers actually look cool, as does the rest of the car.
(if I could afford it) I'd buy one.

I agree that the wheel covers look slick...however, I'd hate to be the guy that pays the (likely) $150k for this car, just to accidentally do a curb check and scratch up the wheel cover.
I also think the idea of a single glass cover is a great idea. Question: How does one access the engine if you need to?
Don't get me wrong, I think it looks awesome. Just some general questions I'd like to see answered.

Looks awesome. But why in the world would you pick Hydrogen? It's Not as powerful as Bio-Diesel in weight to BTU ratio, and where do you get your hydrogen from? Oil, Coal, Extremely inefficient electrolysis of water (for which you need to use electricity (and will loose efficiency in due to thermal loss?)). Again, looks neat, but should fly too, because it's a total fantasy.

Really? This car is the ugliest thing I've seen since a Pontiac Aztec.
1) it looks nothing like a jag
2) the wheel covers have strange and ugly crome appendages
3) side and rearward visibility would SUCK
I mean how could you see past that A pillar... talk about blind spots.
no redeeming qualities from my perspective.

Where is the windshield wiper on this thing?

Wow..! it's perfect...

I agree with JOSHINNOME, this is a very ugly car.
Why is there this trend toward wide flat big open mouthed cars?? The aesthetic seems to come from some early 90s sci/fi battering ram vehicle. Jaguar's older lines are far superior.

This car looks awesome. I have one question: Can it make it over speed bumps with that low suspension?
By junkymail at 3:49 PM ON 02/05/09
A concept is a concept and every model out there now started at some concept level.
appreciate the art of concept designs. Kudos to Mr.Dean. It really looks exciting and for sure far away from the pack.

Your all car geeks living in the past, this is a car of the future my bets are they'll practically drive them self's all your need to to is sit back and look cool.
Good look to Mr Dean if this is any thing to go by he's got a bright future.
