Bentley revs up its fastest and greenest super car

Bentley_continental_supersp.jpgThis Continental Supersports car roars to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds and reaches a hair-raising top speed of 204 mph, but we've come to expect that from Bentley. We nearly choked when we heard that it runs on biofuel, though.

The new FlexFuel system, which debuts in this machine at the Geneva Motor Show in March, will drink petrol, E85 biofuel (a mixture of 85% bioethanol and 15% petrol), or a mixture of both. A sophisticated fuel-sensing system ensures that the power and torque remain constant regardless of what you're running and it certainly doesn't slow it down.

Looking at the figures, it still seems like a fairly fuel-thirsty beast to us, however, managing just 11.5 mpg in petrol mode! We'll give Bentley a pat on the head for its good intentions, but if we were all to screech to work in one of these bad boys, we're not going halt global warming. At $215,000 each, that's probably not likely to happen anyway.
