It's a well-known scam in computer retail: printers are cheap, but ink for said cheap printers is outrageously expensive. It's a lousy situation, one that leads many people to just not get a printer. But what if you could use something you already had kicking around to print your documents? Like, say, coffee grounds?
The RITI Coffee Printer turns old coffee grounds into printer ink, saving you money and saving the environment at the same time. It appears to just be a concept at the time being, but hopefully this will come to market sooner rather than later.

I'm not convinced this works.
After brewing, whatever water goes through the grounds is not very dark.
I'll need to see more than a computer generated image to believe in it.

Omg! The smell of coffee in my memo would be awesome! Hazel nut or french vanilla?

Oh that would be so cool. And all your documents can have a nice pleasant coffee smell to it (like Asakari) said.
But what about color? You can only print in black (or if you add creamer then it would be brown)?
I actually don't have a problem with the cost of ink because I have the Kodak All-in-one printer that was a gift for Christmas 2007 where the black ink is $10 and the color is $15. So I'm good.
But on the other hand if this is inexpensive it could be my black printer. I certainly do not have a shortage of coffee grounds that's for sure. Then I could save on the black ink and only use up my color ink in the kodak printer.

And it prints out in just light brown? That's not going to gather many excited buyers. With printer ink selling at around $5,000 a gallon, or more, is it really that hard to just produce and sell cheaper ink?
