MTX subwoofer largest of its kind ever built

mtx24_1.jpg
MTX has engineered a new king of the hill for biggest production speaker, at 24" the Jackhammer 24 is the largest speaker with a square cone ever produced. It tips the scales at 400lbs, costs $10,000 and thirsts for 3000 watts of continuous power for the massive motor containing dual 4 ohm voice coils. Built primarily as a showpiece of MTX's ability to innovate and manufacture audio equipment in house, they only expect to sell a handful of them worldwide each year. Plans to build a show car around this monster are in place, and we've been assured performance will match its price.

Its only 2 inches bigger then the Jackhammer 22 that they had used in the car in Pimp My Ride 2 years ago.

Tec: The old Jackhammer used a circular cone, so doing some rough math shows that surface area increased from 378"sq. to 576"sq. More surface area means more air movement and louder sound, theoretically. Had they stuck with a circular design, 24" would have only gotten them to 452"sq.
