Monster battles vampire power

power center adjusting system.jpg
In a case where the headline is far more exciting than the story, this is about Monster Cable helping you conserve energy, not about Frankenstein battling Dracula.

Pictured is one of Monster's new Green Power Center models. You plug all your home office gear into what looks like an ordinary outlet strip. You can see Monster's test system draws more than 200 watts. Somehow the Power Center senses how much power is being drawn. You hit a button and all your gear goes to sleep - the test system now draws just 6 watts, far less than if your system was in standby sucking "vampire" power. Press another button, and the system wakes up in seconds.

There also are versions for home theater systems, too. Depending on the model, the Power Centers run around $100-$130.

Oh, yeah - Ludacris showed up. Seems that the Head Monster, Noel Lee (the one that's not Ludacris in the picture) mixed the rapper's newest album, "Theater of the Mind" in Monster's HD-Surround format.
