The next big thing for TVs isn't size, it's depth. We can already get TVs at huge sizes, up to 150 inches for the truly rich and insane, but are they thin enough to hang on our wall and be mistaken for a painting? Not yet, but companies are racing to put out the first super-thin LCD TVs.
JVC is planning to show off a new prototype of a 32-inch LCD HDTV at CES this week. What makes it unique? Well, it's a mere 7mm thick and weighs in at a mere 11 pounds, which is much thinner and lighter than any TV you own, I'm sure. Since it's a mere prototype, don't look to see these on store shelves anytime soon, but it's safe to assume JVC isn't the only company racing to get them to consumers.
