baLens White Balance Lens Cap, the solution for weird-colored photos

balens.jpg

Tired of your digital photos coming out in all the wrong colors? The baLens lens cap's translucent plastic dome lets light through, allowing you to perfectly set the camera's white balance while the cap is still on. Other than that handy feature, it works just like any other lens cap. Available in a variety of sizes, each $54.95 cap includes easily interchangeable domes for both neutral and warm colors.

Judging from the green, yellow or red-tinged look of some of my recent photography using my camera's automatic white balance, I could use one of these. And, there's no need to carry around yet another camera accessory, because this baby is always sitting right there on the end of the lens. Plus, it looks kinda cool, too. Excellent idea!

This is a pretty elegant solution, but if you've got three lenses like the guy in the picture, you're out $165. Expo disc is probably still the more versatile way to go. You know, aside from winging it on location and tweaking it in Aperture.

Coffee filters work too, and they're practically free.

I have this product and it works great. You don't have to buy one for each lens you have, but one for the biggest lens you have, then on smaller lenses just hold the cap over the lens. (Just like you do with Expodisc)
