ZiPP Light Shades can zip open into a flower, or closed into a seed

ZiPP-Light-Shade.jpg
Do you ever get bored with the way your lights look? The ZiPP Light Shade, by designers Arash and Kelly, have a simple polypropylene covering that you can adjust depending on how you feel. All zipped up, the covering looks a lot like a seed and the light it casts is softer. Unzip its petals and you've got not only a stronger, interesting pattern of light, but an attractive flower-shaped covering to boot.

So it's cool, no doubt — although there's a downside. Each shade costs a whopping $170, but, with Christmas coming up, maybe it's high time lovers of interesting lighting design give themselves a treat.
