We long for the day when all cell phone cameras are as good as a typical point-and-shoot digital camera. That day may be slightly closer with the U.S. debut of the Samsung M8800 Pixon, a cell phone with an 8-megapixel camera on board. You can now get it in the U.S. as an unlocked phone, and it may soon be available via AT&T.
Keep in mind that the size of the image sensor, not the number of pixels it contains, is the most important factor in camera image quality. But a CNET review of this 3G, pixel-packing, GPS-geotagging, but Wi-Fi-lacking pocket-sized cameraphone calls its photos "worthy of framing."
Let's hope all other cell phone cameras follow Samsung's lead. Yeah, we're looking at you, you lousy 2.0-megapixel iPhone camera.

What about the Motorola RIZR? It has wi-fi and a 5 megapixel camera. Takes great shots and is avilable at T-Mobile now. May not have GPS geotagging, but everything else is awesome.

Another Motorola employee pretending to be a normal human. Cyborg freaks.

I am due an upgrade and am stuck as to which 8 mp phone to get, I have never used a touch screen before either. I like the sound and look of LG Renoir, Sony Ericsson C905,Samsung i8510 or the Samsung pixon.I am worried that touch screens will scratch and look really bad before the end of an 18 month contract and are you stuck to predictive text on touch screens or can you text the normal way.
