Ford's Active Park Assist to hit the road in mid-'09

ford_active_park_assist_main630-1230-636x360.jpg

Maybe this Active Park Assist will help save Ford from the clutches of bankruptcy and ruin. We can only hope. Instead of the cameras in the Lexus LS 460 auto-parking system, this one uses ultrasonic sensors to determine the car's position, smartly steering it into even the tightest of parking spaces.

If Ford survives, it plans to offer this optional system in its upcoming Lincoln MKS and MKT sedans by the middle of next year, with hopes of enabling lame drivers everywhere by placing the gadgetry in 90% of its vehicles by 2012. Hey, looks like yet another of our tech ideas to save Detroit might come to fruition.
