Meet Eddy, an industrial vehicle designed by Puzon Maciej. This remote-controlled suction excavator is designed to do a big job despite its small form factor — as a suction excavator, it'll suck up all of the dirt and debris to keep a hole clean. Eddy does this with a wide, flexible pipe mounted to its arm, and, if there's a lot to suck up, it can be attached to a larger vehicle for increased storage.
Check out more of Eddy in the gallery below.

Does Pixar know about this?

Know what's more efficient? A large mining machine that actually handles large amts of dirt for its size and fuel consumption, preferably with a conveyor of dump drucks to keep the machine constantly engaged at the optimal speed. Know what works best for tunnels, which I assume this thing must be for? A tunnel boring machine. Did you know that if you stick a nuke in a TBM you can run the super heated reactor fluid to the cutting face, using the rock as a coolant and liquifying it much quicker than you could possible dig or blast it. The same machine can then suck up the liquid rock and layer it along the wall behind like concrete. I'd much rather that than this. Though this little rover with the addition of some type of breaking mechanism on the head (a simple screen of rotating spindles with good torque) would be good for large delicate projects - with many bots that all have relatively limited and cheap sensors they could create a great map of the excavation site and be programmed to distribute themselves to best handle the work. Combined with automated trundlers for bay emptying they would be good for some applications.

A nuke in a tunnel boring machine? Super heated reactor fluid? Liquefying rock? Why don't we just fire up the phaser banks of your Starship Enterprise and just vaporize the hole? It will melt the walls with no need to reapply the waste to the walls for support.

We need some device to start digging the tunnels on the Moon to prepare it for our colonization. Given just a small percentage of NASA's budget I could already have a small livable underground habitat there , but the NASA fools want to bypass the Moon in favor of a straight shot to Mars. Why have we spent so much time and money investigating our close neighbor just to ignore its potential in favor of a planet nearly impossible to re-supply consistently?

Huh? what? the moon? what about the oversized shop vac? or are we sending that to mars?

They had this years ago. It was called "The Nuu-Nuu" and it was on Teletubbies.

LOL, this thing is a "Clean Eddy" made for keeping wholes clean of debris. It's funny because a "Clean Eddy" is a term used for making a bowl movement while keeping your anus clean- requiring no toilet paper.
